Crossfade was an American rock band that formed in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1991, originating from the earlier outfits The Nothing and Sugardaddy Superstar. The founding lineup featured Ed Sloan on lead vocals and guitar, Mitch James on bass, and drummer Brian Geiger, with later additions including Tony Byroads on turntables and later James Branham on drums. After recording two independent releases, the group signed with Columbia Records’ FG Records/Earshot division, changed its name to Crossfade in 2002, and recorded its self‑titled debut album, Crossfade, released on April 13, 2004; the lead single "Cold" achieved significant airplay and the album was certified Gold and later Platinum by the RIAA. The band followed with Falling Away on August 29, 2006, producing singles such as "Invincible" and "Drown You Out" before losing commercial momentum. Following a label change to Eleven Seven Music, Crossfade released We All Bleed on June 21, 2011, featuring the single "Killing Me Inside" and a music video for "Prove You Wrong". The group supported acts like Papa Roach and Buckcherry on the 2011 Rock Allegiance Tour, and their drummer Mark Castillo departed in 2012. Although the band entered a hiatus after 2012, it announced a return in 2024 with new shows at Sonic Temple and an upcoming 2025 event, reuniting Ed Sloan, Mitch James, and Les Hall, while adding drummer Ryan Bennett.
